This year’s conference will take place at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 December 2024. Day one will focus on ‘EQA interpretation and laboratory performance’, and day two will cover ‘Point of care testing performance and innovation’. With a blend of clinical and scientific sessions on “innovation and clinical pathway redesign” we hope you can join us for some exciting discussions.

TOPICS COVERED

The conference focuses on enhancing participants' awareness of the changes and additional functionality of the Weqas Connect EQA participant platform. Delegates will be able to develop their knowledge with respect to understanding how to navigate this platform & use the self-service functions to manage EQA participation.
Delegates can attend report interpretation case study workshops; workshop covers interpretation of a range of tailored reports for both POCT and Laboratory programmes and demonstrating the use of Weqas problem solving tools to assist with identification of errors & to suggest remedial action through practical assessment in a case-based workshop.
The scientific programme covers clinical and laboratory perspectives from a variety of speakers who are experts in their field, covering topics such as cholestasis in pregnancy, Intraoperative PTH, standardisation and performance of bilirubin, laboratory performance of bile acid assays, POCT in emergency departments, performance pre-term labour marker assays, laboratory performance of calculated parameters, experience with ISO 15189:2022 accreditation for POCT, the development of regional POCT services, and a Welsh perspective on the career framework for POCT staff. The programme offers a comprehensive view of current practices and future directions in the field of laboratory medicine and clinical pathways.

The event is an education and training opportunity for EQA participants. These can be laboratory based or for Point of Care Testing teams.
