This is the annual symposium from SHOT which is the independent, professionally led haemovigilance scheme in the UK. The symposium has an exciting programme covering key haemovigilance and safety related topics.

TOPICS COVERED

  • Delegates will be able to receive an update on the latest annual SHOT Report, learn about the emerging themes in the submitted reports and the recommendations. Jenna Merandi Medication Safety Officer at Nationwide Children’s.
  • Hospital will be speaking about 'Learning from day-to-day events'. Prof Carl Macrae, Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Psychology, University of Nottingham, UK is speaking on 'Developing Practical Strategies to Enable Better.
  • Teamwork and Communication'. Additionally, the programme also includes 2 panel discussions; one focussing on the recommendations from the Infected Blood Inquiry from a haemovigilance perspective and the other covering the recently released laboratory safety culture survey.
  • The event is also an exciting opportunity to learn from work that is being done across the NHS to improve transfusion safety and we have a transfusion recipient sharing lived experiences as well. A session covering a few learning cases from the latest Annual SHOT Report is also included.
