This new role is an exciting opportunity to represent the views of new consultant College Fellows and to shape College activities and policies to support their interests.

As a member of the College Council, the Chair of the newly established New Consultants Committee will take part in discussions offering advice and input concerning professional, clinical and continuing professional education issues relevant to new consultant College members.

Main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Representing the interests and views of College Fellows who are new consultants
  • Promoting the involvement of new consultants in College activities
  • Delivery of agreed strategic objectives relevant to the interests of new consultants and approved through College Council. These will be within any budget parameters and resource limitations of the College.
  • Developing a regular programme of events and other content to provide advice and resources to support new consultants both before appointment and during their first five years in post
  • Developing regular articles for publication on the interests of new consultants
  • Providing advice on College communications with new consultants and key stakeholders as appropriate
  • Recognising and monitoring networks and links or relationships with other networks or bodies related to new consultants. 
The successful candidate will take office for a three-year term. In between formal meetings, much of the committee work is dealt with electronically. The post holder is expected to respond to electronic requests.
