The Wales Regional Council is organising a walk of the Wales Coastal Path for Rare Diseases. The walk will be taking place on Saturday 26 October 2024, and we hope you will consider being part of this.
Dr Anu Gunavardhan, Chair, Wales Regional Council:
"Join us for a walk along the stunning Wales Coastal Path as we come together to promote health, enjoy the beauty of nature and raise awareness of rare diseases. This event is open to all – whether you’re a health professional, patient advocate or simply want to make a difference."

Penarth Pier to the Senedd
We will be walking from Penarth Pier to the Senedd. We are delighted that Penarth Tower Mayor, Cllr Gwenda Roberts, will be joining us for the walk. Senedd members have also been invited to take part.
The timeline from Penarth Pier to the Senedd is as follows:
- 10:30 – Meet at Penarth Pier
- 10:45 – Leave Penarth Pier
- 12:00 – Arrive at the Senedd – approx. 2.5 miles from Penarth Pier
We hope you will be able to join us. If you are interested in taking part in the walk to the Senedd, please contact [email protected] and [email protected].
For those joining us, please remember to wear sensible walking shoes, and bring your own water and snacks for the route. You are welcome to bring a friend, and can join or leave at any point, not just the ones we have listed.
Other walking routes
A spreadsheet is available with information on the different sections of the walk, dividing the path into some manageable chunks. Those taking part in the challenge are encouraged to select 1 (or 2 adjacent sections!) as a contribution – either your favourite stretches or 1 near your home or workplace.
The walk last took place in 2022 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the Royal College of Pathologists and the coastal walk (pictured) was one of the regional events organised in celebration.
