Current invasive Group A streptococcus (iGAS) infection notifications remain unusually high for this time of year, particularly in children. Marked increases in scarlet fever notifications are also being seen.

Interim clinical guidance on Group A streptococcus in children has been updated. This guidance is aimed at clinicians involved in the diagnosis and treatment of children up to the age of 18 years, and follows the UK Health Security Agency report released on 2 December 2022.
