The inaugural Celtic Nations Summit hosted by College President, Dr Bernie Croal brought together the Chief Scientific Officer for Scotland, Professor Catherine Ross, Chief Scientific Adviser for Northern Ireland, Professor Ian Young, National Pathology Lead for Wales, Alan Deacon, and regional council members and other key College representatives.

Following the summit, the College has published a report outlining current pathology provision across the three develoved nations and the various ways the College interacts with and supports these services.
Important issues discussed during the meeting included workforce, training, IT and pandemic preparedness. The group agreed there were were many opportunities for further collaboration on shared areas of delivering diagnostics and pathology services.
The College is developing plans to hold further Celtic Nations meetings in future years to help enable collaborative discussions and the development of new workstreams.
The President extended a special thanks to all those present on the day for their valuable input into discussions, and for sharing their experiences.
