College publications
The College delivers a range of publications within the field of pathology. These provide high-quality information and guidance, ensuring pathologists are fully equipped with the knowledge to continue to provide the best standards of care for patients.
The Bulletin is a quarterly professional membership magazine, including articles that are useful and interesting to pathologists and provoking discussion and comment. We cover the broad range of pathology specialties and cater for the interests of our diverse readership.
The President's Newsletter is a monthly collection of news and events relevant to our membership, alongside a message from the President.
CPD portfolio
The College’s CPD portfolio provides access to an easy-to-use system for storing and cataloguing your CPD activities, to improve and enhance your practice. Your online portfolio offers you a personalised, safe, electronic means to record your CPD progress, store supporting information and make an electronic return to the College.
Events and conferences
Alongside running our own events and conferences for our members, we also host an events calendar where we compile an extensive catalogue of internal and external events relevant to our membership. These events have been reviewed by the College to determine CPD accreditation, thus supporting you in your continuing professional development (CPD).
News and blogs
The College website has a dedicated news and public affairs page where we publish the press releases, position statements and College news to keep our members up to date with our activities and responses to current affairs and events.
We also publish regular blogs that feature expert voices from across the pathology specialties, discussing key topics of clinical and professional relevance. We also run regular pieces that highlight the work and achievements of our members across a variety of specialties and subjects.
Podcasts
The College has produced two series of an educational pathology podcast, 'Pathologists in Profile'. This podcast series interviewed numerous inspirational pathologists working across the 17 different pathology specialties, exploring their life and career, and delving into a case study chosen by each guest.
Professional guidelines
The College develops and oversees a comprehensive range of professional guidelines, including NICE-accredited clinical guidelines and best practice recommendations. These guidelines set the standard for pathology practice, and will support you to deliver excellent patient care.
Virtual resources and lecture series'
The College delivers a host of virtual resources aimed at supporting the continued professional development of pathologists and scientists worldwide. These include College-hosted webinars, as well as educational content delivered in collaboration with partners across the UK and internationally. Much of this educational content can contribute towards your CPD activities, if relevant to your work.
These webinars include:
- Ghana video lecture series
- Content across both series cover topics selected by the Ghana Faculty of Laboratory Medicine, and span chemical pathology, haematology, histopathology (anatomical pathology), and microbiology.
- Antimicrobial resistance and stewardship
- Antimicrobial resistance is a major global health threat and our members are at the forefront of addressing this issue. Over the last few years, we have delivered several international webinar series on the topics of antimicrobial resistance and stewardship with speakers from around the world.
- The theory of genomic technologies
- We ran a series of 6 lectures, for and on behalf of The National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) in association with Kings College London. Colleagues from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) also brought their expertise to the delivery of some lectures.
- International Pathology Day
- In celebration of International Pathology Day, the College runs an annual conference. Each year is centred around a different theme relevant to pathology and current events. We have made many of these lectures and roundtable discussions available to watch online, to ensure the educational content is accessible for the benefit of all.
- College-led webinars
- These webinars cover diverse topics across a number of pathology specialties, and are usually recorded and published after each event.
