Medical Virology CSTC Chair

WHY SHOULD I APPLY?

The Royal College of Pathologists has a key role in the professional aspects of pathology services in the development and delivery of health care. Those holding office in the College provide professional leadership, and thereby contribute at a national level to the maintenance and development of pathology services and the quality of care that patients receive.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?

The Chair is expected to:

  • jointly chair the Medical Microbiology and Virology College Specialty Training Committee (with the Medical Microbiology CSTC Chair)
  • attend and, on occassion, jointly chair the Joint Combined Infection Training Specialty Advisory Committee (CIT SAC)
  • ensure that training standards are maintained in that specialty and raise matters of importance or concern as required.
  • contribute to the development of training policy within the College, encouraging active participation within the CSTC.
  • keep the CSTC in the specialty informed of curriculum, assessment and training standard developments and requirements.
  • contribute to the development of the GMC National Trainee Survey with regard to their particular specialty.
  • liaise with the relevant College Specialty Advisory Committee to ensure training matters are represented in discussions.

WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT?

  • Attendance at 3 CSTC meetings and 3 Joint CIT SAC meetings per year
  • Co-ordination of matters relating to the CSTC and SAC activities
  • Term of office: 3 years from the date of appointment
